We are super excited to have confirmed the dates for our riding Clinic with former Olympian Nona Garson at Serendipity Farms! She will be joining us Friday, September 30 thru Sunday, October 2.
For those of you who are not familiar with Nona, here is a brief summary of her stellar showjumping career:
In 1995, she found herself in international competition for the first time when she was a member of the Bronze Medal-winning USET squad at the Pan American Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She captured the Leading Lady Rider award in La Baule, France that same year. She was one of 12 riders to contribute to the USET's win in the inaugural Samsung Nations' Cup Series in 1997. In 1998, Nona represented the US at the Showjumping World Championships in Rome.
In 1999, Garson and “Rhythmical” won the Budweiser/American Grandprix Association Championship. Garson and “Rhythmical” rode for the USET in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
Garson performs consistently well on the grand prix circuit. She finished in the ribbons 21 times in 2003 and 16 times in 2005. She added another 11 placings in 2006 including a Grand Prix win in one of the World Equestrian Games selection trials.
With SF currently competing for the 2nd year in a row at Pony Finals and for all you pony lovers, in 2009 Nona coached Cassius Clay to the Large Green Pony Championship at Pony Finals. Pony expert indeed.
As you can imagine, we are so excited for to have the chance to work with such a successful rider and trainer again this year.
We will be organizing the clinic into groups at the following 5 levels:
You have the option to participate in a 2-day version on Sat/Sun only, or to add a 3rd day and have the girls ride with Nona on Fri/Sat/Sun. This will mean having your school age kiddos miss school, or at least part of the day, on Friday (final schedule will be put together after the groups have filled.) We will make every effort to schedule the school aged participants as late as possible in the day on Friday to accommodate school schedules.
We will limit each group to 6 students and each group will get approximately 2-2.5 hours of ride time each day. The cost of the 2 day clinic will be $495. The 3 day clinic will be $675. In order to reserve your spot, we will require payment in full.
For 3 Day clinic participants, in addition to the riding session on Friday, the clinic will include a hamburger cookout on Friday evening with Nona for Q and A and general discussion.
Also, for the 2 and 3 Day participants, in addition to their 2 hour session each day, the 2 day clinic will also include a lunch on Saturday with Nona for Q and A and general discussion. All clinic participants, both 2 and 3 day, are invited to join us for lunch.
Any non participants, parents, auditors, siblings, etc are welcome to join us for both Friday Dinner and Saturday Lunch for $10 each. Please let us know in advance if you would like to join us for the cookout and/or lunch and how many additional tickets you will need so we can prepare accordingly.
If you do not own your own horse but would still like to participate, SF can provide you with a horse for the clinic for a lease fee of $55/day.
I sincerely hope that all of you, whose girls are ready to participate, will seriously consider signing up. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from one of the best this sport has to offer. I personally can't wait to ride with her myself. I am also going to strongly encourage the 3 day option for all the participants, as these types of learning opportunities are so infrequent. :)
If you are not sure if you or your child will be ready - or what group they will be ready for, please don't hesitate to contact me. And of course I am available for other questions as well.
